Weekly Update 2/11/18

Good evening, Corwin International families.  This is Mrs. Masciotra with the weekly update.

Monday is the last day to order Valentine grams.  Students can purchase them at lunch or order forms can be taken to the main office.

On Tuesday, the 13th, Pueblo Rocks will be at CIMS facilitating a rock painting session with all interested parents and students.  Pueblo Rocks is a community organization that is creating a kindness rock garden near  Minnequa Lake.  If you are interested in helping and having some fun, please meet after school in the cafeteria. All supplies will be provided.  Parents will be able to count one hour of volunteer time for participating.  We look forward to seeing you after school on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we will host a pink out in honor of the CIMS National Junior Honor Society.  Students can wear pink items and jeans for $5.  All proceeds will go towards the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.  Also, please keep in mind that although Wednesday is a holiday, deliveries to students and distracting items such as teddy bears, flowers, etc. will not permitted.  While we want to celebrate students and each other, these types of items pose a disruption to the learning environment and we appreciate your help in limiting them.

On Thursday, the annual Talent Show will take place.  There are two daytime performances for students and admission is $1.  Concession items will also available for $1.  For students interested in attending, they should plan to bring their dollars on Thursday morning and will be paying Advisory/Homeroom teachers.  Students that do not attend the Talent Show will be in a study hall.  An additional evening performance will also take place so that family members can attend.

Friday is a professional development day for staff and there is no school for students.  There is also no school for students on Monday, February 19th due to the holiday.

Finally, we would like to share some exciting news regarding the CIMS Park & Play Yard Initiative.  We have just received notification from The Colorado Health Foundation and they are fullying funding our request of $200,000 for the construction of a new playground.  Be on the lookout this spring as we begin the groundbreaking process.

That concludes our announcements.  Thank you and have a great evening.
