Weekly Update 1/7/18

Good evening, Corwin International families.  This is Mrs. Masciotra with the weekly update.

Monday kicks off our first annual winter read-a-thon.  Students will be bringing home a sponsor form and a tracking bookmark.  Prizes will be awarded for the largest sponsorships collected and for highest amount read in elementary and middle school.  To kick off our read-a-thon, Monday will be a free silly/crazy sock day.

On Tuesday, we will hold our monthly PTO meeting at 6pm in the media center.

On Wednesday, we will host a blue out in honor of the read-a-thon.  We’ll be setting the school uniform aside to show our blue pride from head to toe.

On Thursday, we will host the CIMS MYP Spelling Bee for qualifying students.

Friday is dress like a book character day.  6th grade arts forms are also due on Friday.  These forms will help us determine class placement for 2nd semester and one must be returned from every 6th grader.

We have a number of important documents coming home with your students this week.  In addition to the read-a-thon forms, students in grades 4-7 will be bringing home a letter of intent.  This form is a vital part of the enrollment process for next school year.  If you plan to have your child stay at CIMS for the 2018-19 school year, you must declare your intent on this form and return it to the main office.

Finally, the district choice window opens tomorrow, January 8th.  Students remaining at CIMS do not need to complete a choice application.  Parents of 8th graders, if your child is not attending his or her home high school, now is the time to complete a choice application for the appropriate high school.

Coming later this month:  All parents are invited to attend the second NO Bully workshop for parents and guardians scheduled for Tuesday, January 23rd from 6pm to 7:30pm in the CIMS auditorium.  You will learn how to support your child's social and emotional development, build your own social and emotional intelligence, learn how to become a bullying prevention coach to your child and find out what social and emotional skills are being taught in your child's classroom.

That concludes our weekly announcements.  Have a great evening.
