CIMS Weekly Update, 12-9-18

Good evening, Corwin International families.  This is Mrs. Masciotra with the weekly update.

Congratulations to the CIMS Drama department.  Eighty seven students participated at the Colorado Junior Thespian Conference in Denver on Thursday. Sixteen students competed with other middle schools across the state and Kyla Garrison and Hailee Garcia finished as national qualifiers, Aileen P and M'kya Reyna finished as Superior rating and seven other performances scored excellent.

On Monday of this week, we will hold our monthly student of the month breakfast in the media center at 8am.  Recognized students and their families are invited to attend.  Monday is also our monthly jeans day for $1.  Students can also wear a holiday shirt with their jeans.  All proceeds support student initiatives through PTO.

On Tuesday, there is an instrumental music concert at 7pm.  String players need to arrive by 6:15, Band members by 6:45 PM.  Formal uniform is required and a reminder that this performance is part of this quarter’s grade.

On Thursday, PTO will host bingo night at the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 2 on 9th street.  Doors open at 5:30pm and bingo starts at 7pm.  Individuals ages12 and up can play and there will be a basket raffle.  Bingo cards start at $14.  We hope to see you there!

Also on Thursday, all 6th graders are required to turn in their arts selection form for second quarter.  A specific message will go home to all 6th grade families when the forms go home on Monday.

Parents, do you have a student who loves art and designing? Encourage them to create a submission for this year's Yearbook Custom Cover Contest. Entries must be on an 81/2 x 11 piece of paper, hand drawn artwork, this school year, 2018-19, and our Schools Name, Corwin International Magnet School. Entries are due to the office by Dec. 20th, before holiday break.

Thanks to all of your contributions, we collected nearly 400 books for our book drive.

That concludes our announcements.  Have a great evening.
