CIMS Weekly Update, 10/20/19

Good evening, Corwin International families.  This is Mrs. Masciotra with the weekly update.

We have quite a few announcements this week - and my voice is not at 100% - so keep in mind that you can always reference the text of the message in your email, on our website, and on our Facebook page.

Congratulations goes out to JV Softball for taking 2nd place in the City/County Championship this past week.  And, a huge shout out to Varsity Softball for being the City/County champs for the 4th straight year!  CIMS 7th grader, Meah Tillman, was recognized as the season’s MVP.

The CIMS fall Book Fair officially opens this week.  It will open each day for students until October 31st.

On Wednesday, we welcome Three Pennies author, Melanie Crowder, to CIMS.  She will be greeting whole grades in assemblies and meeting with small groups of students for book signings and workshops.

On Thursday, Melanie Crowder will continue her visit and we will also welcome The Little Shop of Physics from CSU-Fort Collins.  Students in all grades will be participating in hands on physics activities.  To celebrate these inquiry activities and our guests, Thursday will be a tie dye shirt and jeans day.  While there is no cost to participate, we are asking each student who wears the spirit attire to donate a pair of new socks to the SOCKTOBER sock drive.

On Friday, we will hold fall conferences for all students.  Elementary conferences have been scheduled by teacher.  Middle school conferences will run from 8am to 2:30pm.  Please plan to come speak with teachers, receive report cards and other important information.

Speaking of SOCKTOBER, CIMS is participating with the Pueblo Charter Lions Club in the 4th Annual SOCKTOBER! A donation box will be located outside the CIMS office until the end of October.

You are also invited to participate in the Spread the Warmth Winter Coat Drive during the Month on October. Bring in a new or slightly used coat and be eligible for volunteer hours.

Just a reminder of the opportunity for your 8th grade student to take the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) on December 7th. The deadline to register on line is October 25. For more information, please contact Mrs. Bratina at 719-549-7406.

That concludes our announcements.  Have a great evening.
