This is the weekly update:
This weeks’ message is quite long, so we recommend checking out the FB post or the school website if your message cuts off. There seems to be less time allowed for messages this year.
We would like to remind students and parents to recognize the greatness that you see at Corwin International. On our school website is a place to nominate others for Greatness Awards. You can nominate students, teachers and parents!!! We plan to build our IB Wall of Greatness all year long!!! Please consider the wonderful things that take place every day and use this opportunity. Parents if your child mentions the kindness of a peer, please help them get that act of kindness submitted!!!
Parents whose children are participating in athletics, please be advised that the CIMS weekly update will not contain information about sports schedules. Students who are participating in sports will need to get the information from coaches as the number of sports activities is too great to report in the weekly update. Most sports teams have individual sports pages for your information. There are a number of sports activities taking place this week.
Parents, did you know that learning to take action is an important part of an IB education? This Friday CIMS staff will be modeling one of many ways that a global citizen can take action. We have accepted a challenge to participate in the ICE Bucket Challenge to raise awareness about ALS. We are asking students to bring an optional 25 cents to add the staff contribution toward this cause.
There will be two travel club meetings taking place this week. This is the final informational meeting for the year for 6th and 8th graders who wish to travel with their peers to Washington D.C. or Europe. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. and this will be your last opportunity for 6th graders to sign up for Washington D.C. travel and 8th Graders to sign up for the Europe trip.
Thursday night is the Help One Student To Succeed mentors training at 6 p.m. So far we have 60 mentors signed up and we would like to see at least 40 more. We will meet in the cafeteria and light refreshments will be served.
Last week was the Watch DOG kick off night! We now have more than 65 Watch DOGS signed up!! Way to go!! Whoop Whoop!
Calling all PYP and MYP students! Corwin International is partnering with the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center to provide access to the Friday Arts Academy, Sept. 5-Dec. 12. The Friday Arts Academy offers a variety of courses including pottery, instrumental music, theatre, dance, and more. CIMS students will be able to register and pay for any course(s) they choose within the Friday Arts Academy through the Art Center registration office or online. For a small fee, busing will be arranged by Pueblo City Schools from Corwin to the Arts Center for those participating students. Look for the information being sent home with your student on Monday. Your confirmation of participation in this program along with a bus/field trip permission form will need to be received in the school office no later than September 3.
