Weekly Update 3/2/14

Greetings Corwin International Families!

TCAP testing begins tomorrow.  We must emphasize how important it is for your child to be on time.  New testing rules require all schools to keep tested and non tested students separated, so if your 6th, 7th or 8th grade student arrives even 10 minutes late to school, he or she will be kept apart until we can arrange for a test to be administered. Middle school students will test from 8-10 and 4/5 students will test from 10-12 each day.

In order to help students be comfortable and focused tomorrow, students may wear blue or black jeans with full dress tops.  This is meant to be helpful. If having a jeans day proves to be a distraction or takes away from students performing their best, alternate dress days will be limited in the future. To be clear, tomorrow is not a club shirt day.  Parents please ensure that your child gets a good breakfast tomorrow.  Protein is the best brain food on testing days.  We know they can do a great job if they are rested, dressed for success and on time.

Intersession letters have been distributed to all students who are required to attend this spring. If your child received a GPA below 3.0 for the 2nd quarter, he/she is required to attend. Registration will be accepted until Friday, March 14th.

Parents, Corwin International needs your help with a very important survey. The information you provide through this survey will provide our counseling department information for future planning and may allow us to access grant monies from the Colorado Department of Education. The link to the survey will be available starting Monday morning on the Corwin website. The link will only be available for one week. You will be able to claim one hour of volunteer credit for completing this survey. Thank you in advance for your help with this very important project.

Its that time of year when classrooms are running out of basic supplies. Cold and allergy season are upon us and CIMS classrooms are in need of Kleenex and facial tissue. Please consider donating tissue to teachers next week in preparation for TCAP. Remember that for every fifteen dollars spent can be counted as one hour of volunteer time.

An apple a day can bring luck your way! Buy your green apple lollipop for one lucky dollar, every day after school with Mrs. Pineda-Fuentes until March 17th. Thanks for supporting instrumental music.

If you have been having trouble with your Parent Booker account, there will be a technical support meeting at 7 p.m. on March 11th.  Anyone who needs assistance can attend this meeting and get help with your account.
