Greetings Corwin International Families! Here is your weekly update!

As you may have read in the Pueblo Chieftain on Wednesday, Corwin International has been awarded the John Irwin award from the Colorado Department of Education.  We will be celebrating this event with a special assembly for students on Thursday afternoon.  We will have guests from our local school board, community, and district administration.

We want to thank the parents and students who participated in our school wide science fair on Saturday.  We are especially grateful to all of our parent volunteers who served as judges and other helpers.  On Saturday we had three activities taking place at CIMS all at the same time.  We had our school wide science fair, an 8th grade ACT class, and parents decorating doors for teachers this holiday season.  It was wonderful to have our community so active and engaged.

Due to the late start days last week and tomorrow we are moving our official jeans day to this Friday.  Students may wear jeans and/or Christmas sweaters for $1.  These funds help to sustain the school wide technology program at CIMS.  There will be a special prize for the two students who wear the most obnoxious Christmas sweater!  One prize will go to a PYP student and the other to an MYP student.  Prizes include a $20 gift card to Tinseltown. So break out those over the top holiday items.  In the month of January, our jeans day will include college shirts.  We want to give everyone enough time to locate college items to wear in January.

Finally, our PTO meeting is in need of your support!  We have rescheduled the meeting for this Wednesday after the MYP Strings concert. The meeting will begin between 7:15-7:30pm.    We will be planning the most important fundraiser of the year on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. and we need your help.  This basketball tournament fundraiser is the primary annual fundraiser for our PTO and we need to see your wonderful bright and amazing parent faces on Wednesday at 7:15pm.

A T-Shirt order form was sent home with PYP students on Friday and one will go home with MYP students on Monday. If you want to order the latest Sprit Shirt for your child, please return this form with payment by Thursday 12/12.  PTO will process the orders and expects them to be back before students leave for the winter break.  In addition, jeans passes will be available for purchase as a holiday gift.  These passes can be bought before and after each concert in December.  Each pass will come with a card and a jeans pass that can be worn on any day of your child’s choice.

During the week of December 16th our boys will be playing in the regional basketball playoffs.  We are planning to organize a special night to encourage all grade levels to come out to cheer these boys on.  As the schedule is developed we will let parents know when and where that game will take place.  Administrators and school officials will be present to help PYP students get dropped off and picked up at the game venue.  These plans are tentative depending on how we progress through the playoffs.
