Weekly Update:

This month Corwin International will be talking about poverty and its impact internationally.  In particular we will discuss the topic of hunger and food.   As an IB school we encourage students to take action to support a cause.  While raising support is only one of many was to take action, this week we will be collecting cans for our annual canned food drive.  This effort will benefit local organizations and people in need in our community.   In addition we encourage parents to explore the Hungry Planet Videos on You Tube.  Next week we will collect pennies to support an international cause.

Attention PYP parents and students interested in Destination Imagination. We are having an information meeting on Monday, November 10th in the cafeteria from 3:30 until 4:40pm. Hope to see you there.

Attention MYP parents. If your student will be taking the National ACT on February 7th, please remember to get the application and payment to Mrs. Bratina by November 14th. If you still need an application, contact Mrs. Bratina and she will send one home with your student.

There is a volunteer opportunity for all CIMS parents and students to participate in. Rake-Up Pueblo will be happening on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 9:00am. Volunteers will meet at CIMS at 8:45 am. If you have any questions, please contact Brandy Bailey at 252-1562.  If you would like to get a T-Shirt for supporting this event, you must call Brandy no later than November 12th to be counted for a free t-shirt.

The counseling department has scheduled a parent night for Monday, December 1st from 6pm until 7:20. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. The topic will be Cyber Safety for Parents of 21st century students.  This means all parents in every grade level.  This topic is relevant to the parents of all CIMS students.

Monday and Tuesday are the last two days to buy YoYos. If your student is still interested in buying a YoYo, they will be available for sale Monday and Tuesday only in the counseling center before school and after school.

There will be a Veteran’s Day assembly for all students at 2:00 in the gymnasium on Tuesday November 11th

Finally, I want to take this opportunity to tell parents how much the teachers at Corwin International really do care about your kids and their futures.  We know that our high expectations require more of students.  We also know that the IB philosophy means being perplexed and facing challenges that are not easily solved, which can be uncomfortable.  However, the greatest sense of accomplishment comes from seeing things through on the biggest challenges.    Have a wonderful week!
