Good evening.  This is Sulema James, Principal of Corwin International Magnet School, with your weekly announcements:

1.  Hey CIMS Families!  Don't forget about our final skate night of the school year at Skate City on Monday, May 15th, from 6-8pm. Prizes will be awarded.

2.  Save the Date!  Please join us on Thursday, June 1st, as our 5th graders present Exhibition at Corwin International.  The students have been exploring the idea of The Power of One.  By proposing solutions to problems, students will demonstrate how they can make a positive impact on their community.   The classrooms of Mr. Hutchins and Mr. Noble will present from 8:30 to 9:15 AM.  The classrooms of Mrs. Sweckard and Mrs. Galli will present from 9:25 to 10:10 AM.

3.  Parents, if you have completed volunteering and haven't logged your hours, remember to enter your parent volunteer hours in the form located on our website.  We will be sending an update of hours home at the end of next week.

4.  Additionally, our lost and found is full of items.  We will be putting items out at the end of this week, so please come and a take a look if you have any missing items.

5.  The PYP Instrumental Informances will take place this week during 6th hour from 2:20pm-3:10pm in room 125.

Monday- Mrs. Quinn's Class
Tuesday - Mrs. Schwagers' Class
Wednesday - Mrs. Sefcovic's Class
Thursday - Mrs. Weckx's Class

6.   CIMS is partnering with the American Cancer Society to help raise awareness and find a cure for cancer.  During the month of May students will be learning about different cancers. Key Club members are selling Luminary bags which are decorated with the names of loved ones who have fought or are fighting various cancers. The bags cost $5 and will line the path of the relay event in June.  If you would like to purchase a luminaria in honor of someone or make a tax-deductible donation, please look for the Corwin International Magnet School  team on the Relay website which is "" or access the order form on the CIMS website home page under recent files or use the resource tab.  Contact Mrs. Richards with questions or for more information.

7. Madison Tatinski is holding the 3rd Annual Shoe Drive to benefit children in need during the month of May.  Clean out your closets and bring your new or gently used shoes of all sizes to the collection boxes by the office and media center.  Thank you for helping Madison's Mission one pair at a time!

8.  There will be an early release this Friday, May 19th, for all students. Please mark your calendars and note that all students at CIMS grades 4-8 will be released at 12:00pm on that day. Transportation services are aware of this and have modified their schedules to accommodate all bus routes for the day.  The reason for the early release is so that our staff can receive the No Bully Foundational Training.

This concludes your announcements.  Thank you and have a great week.
