Weekly Update: 4/30/17

Good evening.  This is Sulema James, Principal of Corwin International Magnet School, with your weekly announcements:

1.  CIMS PTO will be recognizing the teachers this coming week for Teacher Appreciation Week! We invite you to take a moment too and say thank you to our wonderful teachers!

2.  Are you looking for a way to be more involved at CIMS next school year? The PTO will be holding it's annual Executive Committee elections at the PTO meeting this Tuesday, May 2nd, at 6:00pm. Nomination forms are available on the PTO website and will also be available at the meeting. This is a fun and easy way to get volunteer hours in!

3.  Parents of 4th - 7th graders, we are beginning to plan for next school year.  On Friday, your child received an orange order form for the summer reading book for the upcoming school year.  If you would like to order a copy of the summer reading title for your child, please complete the order form and send it with your payment by Friday, May 5th.  Books will be delivered to students with their packets for next school year at the end of May.

4.  Any 8th grade parent who is interested in volunteering for this year's 8th Grade Continuum/Dance, there will be a meeting after school on Thursday, May 4th.  If you are unable to make the meeting but are still interested in helping, please e-mail

5.  There will be an early release on May 19th for all students. Please mark your calendars and note that all students at CIMS grades 4-8 will be released at 12:00pm on that day. Transportation services are aware of this and have modified their schedules to accommodate all bus routes for the day.  The reason for the early release is so that our staff can receive the No Bully Foundational Training.

6.  Madison Tatinski is holding the 3rd Annual Shoe Drive to benefit children in need during the month of May.  Clean out your closets and bring your new or gently used shoes of all sizes to the collection boxes by the office and media center.  Thank you for helping Madison's Mission one pair at a time.

7.  Friday, May 5th, is $2 jeans day.  In support of raising funds for the American Cancer Society, students will be allowed to wear jeans and a colored shirt representing the cancer of their choice for $2.  A chart of Cancer Awareness colors will be on our website as well as posted throughout the building.

This concludes your announcements.  Thank you and have a great week!
